Finally in Peru: Puno
After breezing past immigration on the Peruvian side of the border, we headed on to our first bus ride in this new, exciting (and, relatively clean) country. Our first stop was Puno, a smallish city or largish town on Lake Titicaca. Puno lives from ranching, agriculture and, of course, the streams of tourists that use it as a jumping-off point to visit the lake.
We decided not to see any more of the lake, however, since we had seen quite a bit of it from the Bolivian side and we really need to start moving a bit if we are going to get to the rest of our Must Do list in the short time that remains in our journey. So we limited ourselves to just a single day trip to a near-by ruin (which we'll talk about tomorrow) and a couple of nice evenings in town.
For one of these evenings, we decided to go take in some local culture and went to the drama school's theater evening. The experience was, well, quite Latin and quite avant-guardiste, a bit too much for my taste, although Venla enjoyed it quite a lot.
We also snapped a few pictures of the town, not the best we have ever done but nice nonetheless. Enjoy!
